Divine Neutrals

When I first got into MMU, I purchased rather benign colors, browns, roses, etc, in other words, neutrals.
Ironically, neutrals do not comprise most of the MMU color spectrum and they are probably not what originally drew most of us into this world. Neutrals do have their place in the repertoire of the glitter gal.

Although I normally don't wear neutrals, in my position there are times where I need to "dress down" my look for a professional event or, more recently, a job interview. My focus on neutrals will primarily weigh on the job interview look. As a supervisor and hiring manager, it doesn't matter how liberal I personally am, when I'm hiring, that goes out the window. Job interviews are not just about your qualifications, but also about how well you will assimilate into their culture. Unless you're applying at a tattoo parlor or Hot Topic, most managers are looking for neutrals.
After you've gotten past the probationary period & proved your abilities, you may be able to get away with more, but I've seen many looks lately that people were planning to wear to interviews that are a little too much.
Here's the thing-you need them more than they need you. There are a lot of job seekers out there, so they can be picky. Cover your tattoos, remove obvious piercings, keep your makeup tame, and for Goddess sake, don't get your work attire ideas from Ally McBeal. People only dress like that on TV, in real life that's not appropriate.

I've found some great options for the workplace. I hope to do a swatch companion piece soon, but for now, it's just a list with links, because swatching is annoying ans time consuming, and usually involves me tapping someone else to take pictures for me, and my husband just doesn't have the right eye.

What colors work best? Logically: browns, soft golds, roses, plums and heathered greens are natural options. Also nice are light and mid-tone pinks, peaches, and purples. A bright color use as an accent with greys, silvers or browns can add color without raising too many eyebrows.

These are  some Indie Sellers' colors that I've found work really well in the more conservative workplace.

Glory Box Cosmetics:

Summer Skin, Celebrity Skin  Mr. Krinkle, Mr. Grieves and Soul Meets Body These pics are from the Facebook Fan page, as they aren't currently listed on the Etsy shop. Glory Box also makes a Soul Meets Body lipstick that makes it onto my face at least once a week.

Shiro Cosmetics:

For Science, Are You Still There? [Subject Name Here] There Will Be Cake S.S. Anne Vulpix Vileplume Shiro actually has a lot of workplace-friendly colors, these are ones I have & have rocked in the more conservative workplace. I love Shiro's formula and you can get samples, mini-jars and full-size, so they fit into every budget. My last order was placed on May 30th, (a Monday) I received it on Thursday June 2nd (Thursday.)

Silk Naturals:

UD Naked Palette Clone is the most obvious choice (and tones of other great colors-too many to post.) The nice thing about this kit is that it's a better value than the palette. They are loose colors, so you're getting more for your money. Also, the UD palette contains bismuth, which irritates my eyes and the clones don't have it. I had the UD palette, my eyes were all itchy from using it, so I gave it to my sis after one use.

Meow Cosmetics:

Meow has a ton of nice peaches, browns, and roses that rock office environments. I won't list them all here, but the site is nicely laid out (I like the Ideal eyes area.)

Willow Tree Minerals:
I personally have a few Willow Tree Minerals that are excellent, I hope to get many more. See my review HERE for swatches of what I have. Check out their shop for even more great colors.

Morgana Cryptoria:
Work safe lippie colors: Clay Bakin', Roses and Violets, Gilded Ballerina, Plumeria, Sunset Peach, Coraline's Kiss, and Dianthus. Lipstick Coven members get a discount on all lipstick purchases for 1 year.
See them Here (2011 shades) and Here (2010 shades) I am usually wearing Gilded Ballerina, as it seems to compliment almost every look I do on my eyes.

I've recently ordered some lippies from High Voltage, I'll add them after I get them. The Lip Whip formula is a great dupe for OCC lip tars, and at a much better price.

Swatches will be added as I get them, I'm on low health currently & could use a H.O.T.
